Hello Everyone! I want to welcome and welcome back all of you to the U of M, and to your University of Manitoba Students Union, UMSU.
As your President, I represent you, and will do so to the best of my abilities. I will work tirelessly to make each one of you a priority for our University, to build our campus community, to ensure accountability and transparency, and to expand the services and supports we provide you. I am also your spokesperson, for the almost 23,000 undergraduate students on all three of our campuses, and will strive to provide you with a strong voice to all levels of Administration and Government. I look forward to working in partnership with other students' unions across the country, the Canadian Federation of Students, our Faculty Association, our Administration, and our Governments to make positive things happen on our campus and to ensure that we maintain a high-quality accessible post-secondary education in our province.
The entire UMSU Executive are excited to be given the opportunity to work for and represent you. Our offices are located at 101 University Centre, our doors are always open, and we look forward to meeting as many of you in the coming year as possible.
I also want to take this time to challenge all of you to get involved. As a student, your first priority should be your studies, however, the opportunities outside the classroom are tremendous, life changing, and rewarding. Your University environment holds within it a diversity of doors, each one a different opportunity and all of which lead to many others waiting for you to explore. Get involved in building your campus community - Get involved in your University of Manitoba Students' Union.
On behalf of myself and the rest of us at UMSU, I hope you all have a fantastic year full of learning, overcoming challenges, new friendships, exciting times, and lasting memories. Make the most out of your University experience!
