Location: 113 Helen Glass Centre Phone: 474-8396 The general vision for the University of Manitoba Aboriginal Students' Association is to promote and encourage social, cultural, and academic dialogue relevant to the Aboriginal community at the University of Manitoba and the overall Aboriginal community in Manitoba. UMASA provides services and organises community events for Aboriginal members and non-Aboriginal students. UMASA aims to serve as an inviting, representative, student-run organisation that ensures a positive environment for Aboriginal students. UMASA recognises the necessity for Aboriginal peoples to maintain traditional teachings and cultural practices and works to promote community involvement and growth through cultural events. Also, UMASA recognises the unique social and academic issues that Aboriginal students face at the University of Manitoba, and works to promote Aboriginal representation within the University and to advocate on behalf of its members.
