UMSU Fee Breakdown

UMSU Fee $64.93
The UMSU Fee is used to cover all of UMSU's administrative costs as well as: UMSU's events, campaigns, initiatives, student services, supports and sponsorship.

Scholarship & Bursary $24.93
The Scholarship & Bursary fee goes to the scholarships and bursaries that UMSU funds at the University of Manitoba. Each dollar raised is matched by the Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative (MSBI) at 50 cents per dollar, up to predetermined maximums. This allows UMSU to give out more than $1million each year in scholarships and bursaries.

Endowment Fund $14.24
The Endowment Fund is a separate entity/subsidiary from UMSU that holds money in a trust, ensuring strong fiscal stability into the future, along with helping to fun larger events through the year if needed (i.e. Bison Bash).

Capital Fund $36.79
The Capital Fund covers projects, renovations and maintenance for all of UMSU's spaces and businesses.

Childcare $10.69
The Childcare fee goes towards the payment of the UMSU contribution in developing the on-campus child care services, ensuring UMSU Members get 70% of the available spaces at the daycare.

Indigenous Scholarship & Bursary $22.53
The Indigenous Scholarship & Bursary is the same as the Scholarship & Bursary fee, but specific to indigenous students

Research Grants $22.53
The Research Grants fee provides funding for research projects within the University of Manitoba each year, totaling to over $500k on average.

UMFM $8.56
The UMFM fee goes to an external entity of UMSU, the campus radio station. This funding is established by UMFM, and goes to covering their costs (salaries, space rentals, equipment, etc.).

Manitoban $14.24
The Manitoban fee goes to an external entity of UMSU, the campus newspaper. This funding is established by The Manitoban and covers their costs (staff salary, printing costs, promotions, etc.)

Sustainability $2.96
The Sustainability fee goes to sustainability related events, partnerships and the costs associated with UMCycle.

WUSC - World University Service of Canada $8.90
The WUSC fee goes to an entity outside of UMSU which helps to support students new to Canada in pursuing post-secondary education who otherwise would not be able to. This covers their tuition costs as well as stipends for rent, groceries, and other expenses for the first year of their education.

World Wise $0.59
The World Wise, renamed to World Mobility Services, fee goes to an entity outside of UMSU. It supports the University of Manitoba's exchange program, along with inter-cultural programming and events.

Engineers Without Borders $0.29
The Engineers Without Borders fee is levied by UMSU on behalf of the campus Engineers Without Borders Group.

Services Groups $5.23
The Services Groups fee goes towards the funding of service groups across campus.

Reallocation Fee $0.89
As some faculties are smaller than others, the funding available to them will also be less than the larger faculties. The Reallocation Fee helps to support smaller Faculty Associations, allowing them to put on programming and events.

CFS - National $7.45
The CFS-National fee goes to an external entity from UMSU, the Canadian Federation of Students, to cover national committee expenses.

CFS - Services $2.46
The CFS-Services fee goes to an external entity from UMSU, the Canadian Federation of Students, to cover services available to CFS members.

CFS - Manitoba $6.61
The CFS-Manitoba fee goes to an external entity from UMSU, the Canadian Federation of Students, to cover provincial committee expenses.
