The President is the official spokesperson for your Students' Union. The President also works within the University, the local community and the larger student movement in Canada. The UMSU President advocates for all students on the University Senate, Board of Governors, University Administration, all three levels of Government and at all three University of Manitoba campuses.
Vice President Advocacy
The Vice President Advocacy strives to promote a safe and equitable university experience for all students. The Vice President Advocacy sits on the Board of Governors, the governing body that oversees the financial concerns of the U of M. The UMSU Vice-President Advocacy has a dual role with the University Senate as a Student Representative. The Vice President Advocacy is the Chair for Student Senate Caucus, working with the Student Senators to discuss concerns of the student body. It is the Vice President Advocacy's responsibility to also advocate for individual students.
Vice President External
Vice President External, Chair of Campaigns and Government Relations, act as a liaison for all external organizations and help facilitate and promote important campaigns on our campuses. UMSU's Vice President External is responsible for communicating UMSU events, services and campaigns to all students. The Vice President External also works with our provincial and national students' union, the Canadian Federation of Students, to develop and implement campaigns to raise awareness and effect change. In addition, the Vice President External works with other students' unions in Manitoba and across the country, sending a strong message to provincial and federal governments to increase funding for our universities and colleges.
Vice President Internal
The Vice President Internal is responsible for overseeing the UMSU Health and Dental plan, UMSU's services and businesses (including Degrees, IQ's, GPA's, the Food Bank, and UMSU Living), in addition to preparation and maintenance of UMSU's budget and finances.The Vice President Internal is the chair of the Finance committee as well as the Health Plan committee, gathering input from UMSU council members and other students on the operation of these services.
Vice President Student Services
The Vice President Student Services is responsible for organizing many of the events, socials, fundraisers and activities hosted by UMSU on our campuses, and also coordinates and provides many resources to the over 110 student groups and five service groups at the U of M. The Vice President Student Services also looks after the operation of the Student Group Resource Centre, is the Chair of Student Group Executive Committee (SGEC) and Student Group Funding and Recognition (SGPAC).Vice President Student Services act as a liaison between UMSU and student groups, student service groups, and programmers of student councils.
