Notice of Plebiscite:
All students are invited to vote in the forthcoming UMSU plebiscite.
Q– What is a Plebiscite?
A– A direct vote of all the members of an electorate (UMSU Members) on an important public question.
On January 31, February 1 & 2 the UMSU Council will hold a Plebiscite on the interest of remaining a member of the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS). UMSU is giving students at the University of Manitoba the opportunity to express their interest on this matter, with the results directing UMSU Council how to proceed going forward.
Voting will open online at umsu.simplyvoting.com on January 31st at 8:30 am and close on February 2nd at 4:30 pm. A polling location will be available from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in front of the UMSU Office (101 UMSU University Centre) on each voting day.
If you are interested in the “Yes” or “No” campaign, nomination packages can be picked up at the UMSU Offices in 101 UMSU University Centre on January 15th and returned to the CRO’s office (102-O UMSU University Centre) on January 18th by 8:50 am.
The official results will be available online at umsu.simplyvoting.com after voting closes on February 2nd.
The question being posed to UMSU members is as follows:
“Do you believe UMSU should remain a member of the Canadian Federation of Students, at a cost of $14.98 per student per year?”

[ ] Abstain
